Virtual Career Fairs

The problem

University of Nottingham’s Recruitment Services team approached Unibuddy. They wanted to move their three largest events of the year onto a virtual platform and, after considering competing services, decided to go with Unibuddy.

The Recruitment Services team was not familiar with the platform before implementation, as a different UoN team is responsible for their Unibuddy widget.

The solution

The events were planned, set up, and launched in less than three weeks. After receiving training and guidance from the Unibuddy Customer Success team, their team was able to start setting up events, onboarding employers, and curating their events and external content.

The events spanned three days and encompassed the following major industry sectors: Engineering, Science and Technology, Management, Consulting and Finance, and Law.

The results

Across the three days and 160 employer booths, there were 1,334 unique UoN student attendees, 9,367 messages sent, and 2,131 unique student sessions.

Feedback from the employers after the fair was very positive. They commented that the platform was user-friendly, visually appealing, slick and engaging with an easy set- up process. They particularly liked the integrated group chats and live streaming element of Unibuddy Live.

“Career Fair season is one of the busiest for Recruitment in Early Careers! This year every University opted for a different platform, making it extremely challenging. As an employer, time is money, so it’s vital that any career fair runs smoothly with minimal challenges.

After personally using, signing up and navigating multiple options – I have to admit Unibuddy was miles ahead of the rest! Firstly, the site wasn’t blocked by security firewalls, a big hurdle to jump over for any large employer. Secondly, the site was super easy to use with simple tabs, headers and forums to engage with students.

I wish more Universities opted to use this platform, as not only would it save us a headache, but also provide real ROI when it comes to student engagement and recruitment.”
