Challenge: Leverage Unibuddy Discover to increase graduate student engagement

University of Glasgow was looking for a way for prospective graduate students to begin conversations with their team of student ambassadors through FindAMasters – a website which attracts over 800,000 users. They wanted to see how Unibuddy Discover could help capture more of this audience – an audience which has served as a key driver for the school’s graduate recruitment efforts.

“We’ve worked with FindAMasters to build a complete picture of our marketing and recruitment activity,” says Ann, “I can see the value the platform delivers from enquiry to enrollment. It’s really powerful—throw Unibuddy into the mix and you have a comprehensive recruitment platform.”

“If marketing is messaging then Unibuddy is an ongoing conversation,” said University of Glasgow Recruitment Marketing Manager Ann Wilber. “We’re always looking at ways to extend our platform’s reach. We did it with UCAS and it makes sense to do the same with the leading platform for a postgraduate audience.”

Expected Results: Greater personalization through conversations with Glasgow’s enrollment team

With Unibuddy Discover, University of Glasgow is looking to improve the reach of their enrollment team and open a new channel for students to ask detailed questions. By connecting prospective graduate students with student ambassadors, Glasgow is enabling connections to people who have walked in their shoes and can offer authentic personalized advice. Their hope is that these conversations can help propel prospective graduate students further towards enrollment at their school.

When asked what her hopes for the platform were, Wilber says:

“Greater personalization in our recruitment efforts. From our website, we’ve seen so much emphasis placed on Unibuddy in making surprisingly big decisions, asking our student ambassadors questions like: ’Should I accept my offer?’; ‘Are you happy at university?’; ‘Did you make the right choice?’”

Wilber says these kinds of questions deserve honest answers. Their hope is that by having a new channel on FindAMasters, via Unibuddy Discover, prospective graduate students can have these authentic conversations at-source.
