Women's Social: Celebration of Support & Empowerment

Women of Unibuddy

One of the best things about working at Unibuddy? We genuinely encourage and support each other as much as possible. Our company values are presented throughout our culture as well as our approach to work. So, in true ‘Power to the Peers’ fashion, we held a global social to celebrate the women who make Unibuddy what it is today.

Our teams in London and New York planned an evening of food and drinks where all of the women across the company met to mingle, dine, and dance! We don’t have to wait until International Women’s Day to celebrate our women, and we certainly don’t make this a once-a-year thing. The women of Unibuddy are seen, heard, and recognized by the company every day.

When it comes to most tech organizations, we know that the number of female employees is often limited. We also know how difficult it can be for women to reach success in the male-dominated tech industry, and that women in senior leadership positions are scarce. That’s why at Unibuddy, we work hard to ensure that we move away from that paradigm. Our leadership team is currently made up of a 60/40 male/female ratio, and we’re working hard to achieve 50% all around.

We continue to support, celebrate and empower all of our Buddies regardless of cultural background, age, or gender. And we’ll be sharing many more socials, and cultural initiatives with you all in the coming year. In the meantime, hear from some of our Buddies who attended the women’s social below.

“We’ve got so many incredible women working at Unibuddy. I really wanted to create this opportunity for us to bond across teams and to get to know each other and each other’s stories and shared experiences both inside and outside of work.”

Georgia, Customer Marketing Executive – UK

“We talk a lot about ‘imposter syndrome’ when it comes to being a woman in the tech space, but the women at this company make it difficult to get caught up in that thought pattern. Seeing your colleagues thrive and lead by example consistently is the best way to remind yourself that we all belong.”

Kara, Content Marketing Manager, Editorial – US

“I loved getting the chance to speak to other women at Unibuddy that I wouldn’t normally see or interact with in my role, and I love that Unibuddy always provides us with opportunities to connect with our colleagues.”

Maz, Partnerships and Events Manager – UK

“Team-focused socials are amazing but at Unibuddy, we also have women’s socials. These socials provide the opportunity for women from various teams and career levels across the business to learn from each other. It was an amazing night where we got to know each other better and build on the foundation for better working relationships. Not only that, but we were able to feel more aligned as a unit in our acknowledgment of how great Unibuddy’s benefits are, as well as to brainstorm how to challenge the remaining gender issues within Unibuddy.”

Victoria, University Partnerships Manager – US

“It was so fun to meet up with women from different teams within Unibuddy and get to know them better! At times it can be a little difficult to connect with people outside your own work ‘bubble’ (especially when working from home), so I loved the opportunity and sense of community that the social brought. It’s amazing to see so many women in such varied roles at the company and to be able to learn from them!”

Ximena, Partnerships Executive – UK

“One of the best parts about working at Unibuddy is the people. So whenever I get a chance to hang out with all of the super-smart, funny, and awesome women at Unibuddy I know it’s going to be a great time. Not only do I admire everyone at work, I admire them as people and enjoy learning more about who they are and what they enjoy outside of Unibuddy too. Everyone has different roles, interests, and experiences so it always feels rewarding when we are able to get together all in one place”
